Everglades University Announces New Articulation Agreements With Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
Boca Raton, FL—Aug. 20, 2012— Everglades University, a regionally accredited, private, not-for-profit university is pleased to announce an articulation agreement with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). An articulation agreement is an officially approved agreement that matches coursework between schools. These are designed to help students make a smooth transition when transferring from one institution to another.
Even though Florida has a statewide course numbering system where assigned numbers describe course content to improve the facilitation of the transfer of students, it is helpful to create agreements between schools in order to make the process as simple as possible for the students.
In addressing the recently signed articulation agreement the President of Everglades University, Kristi Mollis says: "I know I speak for the entire administration of Everglades University when I tell you how pleased we are to have entered into this agreement with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine." President Mollis pointed out how this agreement with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine allows Everglades University students to become eligible for early acceptance into LECOM’s College of Medicine; leading to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (the Early Acceptance Program); or LECOM’s School of Dental Medicine; leading to the Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (the Early Acceptance Program).
This agreement establishes an Early Acceptance Program to which Everglades University undergraduate students are enrolled jointly by Everglades and by LECOM. The Early Acceptance Program is designed to facilitate the admission of Everglades’ students into LECOM’s Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program or LECOM’s Doctor of Dental Medicine program.
“The development of relationships such as these are win-win for both institutions and facilitate LECOM implementing its mission of addressing the health care provider shortage crisis in Florida and nationally,” stated Dr. Chet Evans, LECOM’s Vice President for Medical Education and Program Development.
