Master’s Degree in Aviation Science
"In September, 2003 I was perusing a local newspaper when my eyes fell upon an
advertisement for Everglades College. I regarded the advertisement as a good
omen. Some years prior I had made the decision to pursue a Masters Degree, but
it was a matter of when, and which institution. The advertisement it said, “Call
Today.” I did.
Without wasting time I completed the necessary applications, and paid all
applicable fees. I then asked myself: Had I made a prudent decision? Had I been
too hasty? My doubts lingered until the following week when I attended an
interview with Michael Flynn. After the interview all doubts faded; I was ready
to become a graduate student. I could not believe my fortune.
Michael announced that I was to be Everglades’ first graduate student, and the
Everglades Staff welcomed me into their fold with warmth akin to family. Since
that day my education at Everglades University became an animated voyage. Each
of my courses brought excitement, wonder and intensified my passion for
aviation.
I feel honored to be Everglades University’s first student to receive a Masters
Degree. I trust that I have set an acceptable standard for those who will follow
in my footsteps. My time at Everglades shall remain a pleasant and indelible
memory. I wish Everglades University continued growth, and success."

"My experience at
Everglades University has fostered a feeling of sincerity and respect.
Respect for the
professors as well as the other staff members. From the beginning, the staff of
American Flyers College, now Everglades University, has been very helpful in
helping me attain my educational goals. As a new 4-year University, they have
tried their best to accommodate my personal needs as well as my professional
needs. From helping me with financial aid issues, to just having a group of
sincere individuals that care about their students so intimately, was quite
astounding. I was not treated as a number, but as a person. My experience at
Everglades University has also been met with people that I not only call my
instructors but also my friends. The open door policy of the president as
well as the faculty has lend way to facilitate a sense of caring and assurance
that issues can and will be dealt with in a matter of utmost concern. I really
do appreciate the help that I have gotten along the way, and hope that this will
continue in the distant future."

"When I retired from the Air Force, I wanted to take the next step in my
education. I had considered several institutions but Everglades University
really stood out. The focused, one course per month schedule and faculty with
real-world industry experience were the key points in my decision to attend E.U.
The admission and financial aid processes were effortless and my department
chair took a personal interest in my progress. I thoroughly enjoyed every course
I took because the instructors made them challenging and fun. There is no doubt
in my mind; my bachelor degree from Everglades was the reason I was hired to
work for a major aerospace corporation...before I graduated! Thanks Team
Everglades!"

"Deciding to go back to school after forty
years was no small decision for me to make. I always wanted to be a teacher, but
never had the opportunity to achieve this goal. However, in the year 2000, that
all had changed. In my job working with the new online department of Keiser
College, I constantly encountered students with login problems and an unlimited
amount of “how to” questions. I asked my director if it was possible for me to
take a few courses so that I could have a better handle on assisting online
students. Fortunately, I was given that opportunity to experience online
education and liked it so much; I continued on to obtain my Associates degree in
Business Administration.
I was so elated with the experience that I
quickly (two months after graduation) started my Bachelor’s degree at Everglades
University. It was a smooth transition in that both institutions used the same
platform. Even though I was an experienced online student, on occasion I had to
reach out to my instructors for assistance. I never had to wait more than
twenty-four hours for a response and when I had a crisis, I received immediate
assistance from the Dean. As an adult-learner with full-time responsibilities,
the staff facilitated my success at every turn. In my bachelor level classes, I
found the discussions to be intense and extremely informative. I also observed
there to be a great deal of camaraderie with my classmates. I would say that we
bonded well. This is so important to an online student who can often feel
isolated, sitting alone while “going to class.”
I was pleased to learn that Everglades
University offers Masters Degree programs online.
For many of us who find it extremely inconvenient or even impossible to attend a
traditional classroom, online education is a wonderful way to further one’s
education. Thanks to technology and a university that has vision, students are
reaping those benefits. Everglades University clearly has that vision and is
preparing their students for the future. While taking their program courses, it
was apparent to me that Everglades University works hard to provide quality
instructors, structured classrooms and a user-friendly staff to assist their
students.
I am fortunate to be gainfully employed and am
delighted that I am already applying the knowledge that I have gained in my
studies. I am amazed how my thinking, communication and planning skills have
improved. To me, learning is addictive! The more I learn, the more I want to
learn. By the way, I am going for my Masters degree at
Everglades University."

"I started working on my Bachelor’s Degree in
1980 when most of the current students were probably just learning to walk and
talk. I loved going to school but, unfortunately, life always seemed to get in
the way. I was a single mother of two who was working hard to make ends meet. I
received a promotion, which required that I travel around the State of Florida
hiring and training new employees. While the promotion was a good thing, the
demands of travel required me to put my education on hold for almost 20 years.
In 2000, I finally found my way back to school.
Everglades University seemed just the right choice for me as having a choice of
on-line or on-campus classes fit right in to my busy work schedule. Life
continued to get in the way. I survived a bout with Breast Cancer; I lost my
precious father; and I have another demanding job. However, this time, with the
encouragement from the Everglades University faculty and staff, I finally
completed my Bachelor’s Degree at the age of 54.
I am the first person in my immediate family to
earn a Bachelor’s Degree. In fact, I am the only one of my generation on
either side of my family to do so. This makes me very proud. The graduation
ceremony was very special to me. However, there were others in attendance who
should be even prouder as they overcame obstacles greater than the ones I
faced. It was an honor to be among their presence that day".

"I am a 41-year-old single female. I currently
am employed full-time as a Junior Staff Accountant at a local residential
facility for people with mental illness. I have been with the agency for three
years. Previously, I held a variety of positions during my 11-½ year tenure at
Goodwill Industries of Broward County, Inc. I have been employed part-time as an
independent home delivery newspaper carrier for the Sun-Sentinel since July 5,
2000 as well.
I began taking
classes with Everglades in August 2000 in order to complete my Bachelors degree
in Business Administration. Most of the classes I have taken have been through
the distance-learning program. I learn quickly and prefer to work on my own. I
also find that I am better able to fit school into my schedule this way and
still have time for everything that I need to accomplish. Compared to my prior
college experience, I have discovered that the accelerated program is much more
conducive to learning. I am able to concentrate on one subject at a time and
then move onto the next. I feel I am better able to retain material this way as
opposed to trying to learn three or four subjects at the same time.
I chose Everglades
College over other distance-learning programs because I preferred the family
atmosphere the college projects. I didn’t want to be just another number, which
is what happens at the larger schools. I like the personal approach which makes
the learning experience much more comfortable. I would strongly recommend
Everglades College over any other school."

“Everglades University gave me the opportunity to achieve not only a degree, but
a dream. By offering degree programs which can be completed online, they
are offering individuals, such as myself, a way to reach their educational goals
without altering work or family schedules. The instructors are top of the
line; they are experienced in their fields, show genuine concern for student
progress and are ready and willing to answer any questions. I will (and
have) recommended Everglades to others interested in continuing their
education.”

"I chose Everglades
University because I was looking for a program that would be catering to the

class sizes and a unique academic program, all of which I found at Everglades
University. "
